Economic crisis – Lessons from Ireland Speakers: Mary Lou McDonald TD, Vice President Sinn Fein Pat Doherty MP, Sinn Fein
Tuesday 28 February, 7pm The Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, House of Commons SW1A OAA
The meeting will provide a timely opportunity to discuss the issues underpinning the economic crisis, and the solutions. Senior Sinn Fein figures from Ireland will outline the party’s perspective on the need for a different economic strategy, one of investment to stimulate growth and create jobs, as an alternative to cuts and austerity being imposed in the south of Ireland, and in the north by the Westminster government. Alongside Sinn Fein’s perspective towards an all-Ireland economy and Irish unity, there are clear common issues including increasing concerns on the effects on jobs, public services and the effects on ordinary people’s lives in general. The meeting will look at why a progressive and better way forward is both possible and necessary.
